The Great Hair Debate

The issue of hair removal for women is a touchy issue. Men have it easy, they can choose to grow facial hair, or not. They can choose to get manscaping done, but it is by no means a requirement. Having more hair does not make a man less masculine, in fact the opposite is true.

Last Boots Standing

Over the months leading up to our departure on our RV adventure last December we purged like we have never purged before. We had gone through an initial purging process in the spring of 2014, when we parted with about 3/4 of our stuff and moved cross country from St John’s, NL to Victoria, BC.

The Key to Living in a Highly Scented World

You know those ads on TV, the ones put out by a very prevalent company depicting someone's couch coated in garbage or with a fish stuffed in a sofa cushion? A spray bottle miraculously emerges and, voila, you are doused in so much synthetic fragrance you can no longer tell that you are living in a pigsty? I personally think a garbage bag and a run through the washing machine might be more effective, but maybe that's just me.

This week I received a difficult challenge in a business course I am working on. I was asked to specify my area of brilliance, and I found myself coming up short. It is so easy for me to see the beauty and brilliance in others, why is it so damn hard to see it in myself?

Finding Your Calling

I'm not sure I am supposed to admit this, but the words "find your calling" have always thrown me. I've often struggled with the idea of a calling, as I don't know that there is only one thing I am meant to do.

How the Light Gets In

Last night as I sat watching the election results roll in I felt myself slipping into fear, overwhelm and profound disappointment as it became evident that the final tally would be a far cry from everything I had hoped.

Handcrafted Malas

Malas are made up of 108 beads, plus a guru stone (or tassle). This central stone serves as a focus point for the intention of the mala and meditation practice, as well as signifying the beginning and ending of the japa meditation sequence. 108 is considered to be a sacred number as there are said to be 108 upanishads (sacred Hindu texts), as well as 108 sacred places in the body.

Tackling Nutritional Overwhelm

Generally speaking, I am happy with how we eat. We follow a whole foods, plant based approach because this is what we've found works best for us. I incorporate lots of superfoods, as a nutritional boost, and follow the latest news in health and nutrition to keep abreast of what is new and exciting in the field.

Boxing Day Blues

Over the past few years I have started to notice that Boxing Day can be a bit of a downer. There is so much excitement and festivity (and let's be honest, stress) leading up to Christmas, when it comes and goes, far more quickly than I might have hoped, it can be a bit of a let down.

Live Like You Were Dying

Last week was very challenging, as I needed to go into my doctor's office to follow up on some test results. I had to do a lot of work to offset the fear and anxiety I was experiencing, (thank goodness for EFT and meditation!) as being called in to review results is never a warm and fuzzy experience.
